Team names should have some tie to the city/region they play in. I’m on board with the New Orleans Pelicans which was used by a minor league team previously. This also frees up Hornets to be used by Charlotte again.
I’m sure this will prompt fans to ask the Washington Wizards become the Bullets again, but I don’t see that happening. Nostalgia for that nickname is kind of phony anyway since the Bullets had a lower Q-rating than the Capitals, in part because of marketing the visiting teams coming more than the home team. It happened.
