Madison Square Garden Told to Fix Penn Station or Move Out -
The Planning Commission voted to extend the arena’s operating permit for 15 years, during which time the arena’s owners could either make plans to move or substantially improve the transportation hub.
I’ve been told it was a sin that they tore down the original Penn Station. The current one is just miserable.
'Operation Swill:' N.J. raids bars to see if they are passing off cheap liquor as premium brands -
The investigation found that the businesses filled premium brand bottles with cheaper liquor “to fool the customer and increase their profits,” the agency said. “The customer paid for the premium brand, but was instead … poured the non-premium brand.”
Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa said the investigation was spurred by information from citizen complaints, confidential informants and “new technology used to test samples taken covertly from the licensed establishments” by division detectives. He would not elaborate, pending a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. today in Trenton.
Most of the bars targeted were TGI Fridays
Gin, Tonic and a Dash of Restraint -
Overwrought reinventions aside, a new golden age for a classic cocktail has arrived.
Up in New York, they are overthinking the gin & tonic. Here is how you do it:

Courts are looking to Urban Dictionary, a crowdsourced Web site, as one way to define words on which a case may turn.
New York Yankees: Not a roster for the ages, but subs are earning their pinstripes -
The moral of the story: For generations, the Yanks never make excuses. As soon as you put on the uniform, you swell up to be part of the tradition of Ruth, DiMaggio, Mantle and Jeter. But you also know everyone, except your own Bronx fans, hates your guts. That comes with the contract. There’s crushing New York pressure, savvy criticism and every cabbie could be a GM. So what? Show up, just win and stop whining. The target-on-our-back Nats and refs-are-out-to-get-us Caps could take a lesson.
I think Tom Boswell is trying to jinx the Yankees, but his suggestion for the Nats and Caps is a good one.
Also, good win by the Yankees last night — tying it up in the ninth and then scoring twice in the 10th to win it. The victim - the cowardly, subsidized Baltimore Orioles.
The Nats on the other hand. Oof.
Best design in college hoops? George Washington University just unveiled this new court on Twitter. Thoughts?
If the Washington Monument had scaffolding, it’d be the best design.

Still all-time top five favorite player.
I really wish I had seen Rickey play, maybe more than any other player during my time following baseball.
